Opel Astra GSI 16V
A bit of history
A cult car of N3 class in early 90s, that has lot of success in F2 WRC - Gr.A front wheel drive, naturally aspirated engine powered cars.
Best results in WRC In Astra F has Bruno Thiry. He won F2 classification of 1993 WRC season in Rallye Automobile de Monte-Carlo, Rallye de Portugal, 1000 Lakes Rally (Rajd Finlandii), Rallye Sanremo - Rallye d'Italia, Rallye Catalunya-Costa Brava (Rallye de España) occupying high positions in the general classification. Despite more points and higher position in the season classification the title went to Peugeot hands. Admission to win a championship title was to attend at least one event outside Europe and the Belgian tem did not have a money for that. They asked GM for support but they were not interested in. That program was carried on with Gregoire de Mevius in 1994 and Freddy Loix in 1995. Meanwhile David Llewellin (car prepared by MSD) dominated the F2 class in the British Rally Championship in 1993 and 1994.
The car became less competitive, as the French introduced some serious F2 kit cars at the time.
